Giant
sea turtles nest in St Croix every year--this year quite a few laid
their eggs at the Gentle Winds beach
The
turtles
build nests in the sandand
leave their tracks
After about 10 weeks,
the turtles break out of the shells, dig their way out of the sand and
head for the ocean ...
a few of the hatching turtles
get confused by the lights and end up in the pool, so they get rescued
by the
staff and directed back to the ocean.
Their flippers are really strong!!!
Claude helps them find their
way
Aren't they cute???
