We
took a small ferry to the tiny island of Andiparos, which is very near
Paros. There is something about a ferry ride
that makes everyone sleepy.
It is interesting to see octopus
drying wherever it happens to be convenient.
This village seems to be typical of
the small Greek islands. They are so striking with white walls
and blue trim.
We took a bus to the famous Caves of
Andiparos.
We hike down the 800-plus steps and
then had to turn around and hike back up.
The cave was remarkable for the famous people that had carved their
names on the walls at the bottom. The only thing missing was a beer
stand, which we definitely needed after the walk up. The views were awesome from The Caves.
We had to wait for the ferry so there
was time for refreshments.
We found mojitos to be FABULOUS all over Greece, but bloody
mary's...not so much.
Our server was Eva, a native of
Athens who works in Andiparos in the summer. She was a blast and
had us in stitches.
We had to scurry to make the
ferry.
We loved our morning in Andiparos. People were friendly
everywhere we went. We certainly crammed alot in our
first day in the Cyclades...starting with a fast ferry ride to Paros,
a slow ferry to Andiparos, a bus ride
to and from The Caves, and then ferrying back to Paros! This website is for the
