When we originally planned our trip, Kevin thought they would be out of
town.
Consequently we could only squeeze in a 1-day visit to Austin,
but it was Dylan's birthday,
so the day was crammed with activities!
Our first adventure was boating at Lake
Travis. Let's just say it was easier getting the boat into the
water than getting it out.
A
thunderstorm rolled through while we were on the water and it made for
an interesting ride back to the dock.
Every single one of us
had to sit in the back of the pickup to get the boat up the slick
ramp. We were laughing hard.
We had a fabulous time on the water. Kathi was the number one
deck hand, with Chip helping as necessary
Kevin convinced Clada to ride on this crazy
thing...it spins while you're being pulled and it takes a lot of effort
to hang on to it!
Kevin and Clada both got slung off of
the float several times!
Kevin lends Clada a hand...
During our lunch break at a beautiful cove, the boys played "king of
the hill" with Kevin serving as MC and referee.
It was quite entertaining for all of us.
Did we mention a close lightning strike?
Or getting caught in a nice squall??
We had a fabulous time on the
water despite the cold, rainy ride back to the boat ramp.
Then it was time for cake and ice cream back at the
house.
We were so lucky to be
there for Dylan's 13th birthday!
Dylan got cool presents, including clothes, a driver, and a guitar
Dylan had us all laughing with his first attempt at playing and singing
a
song.
Our next birthday stop
was a cool bowling alley where the kids bowled against each other and
the adults played on another lane.
Kevin managed to kick our butts. Clada, who hadn't bowled in 15
years, came in last.
Out last birthday stop was dinner at a local mexican restaurant...mmmm
good.
It
was a really fun day...we wish we could have stayed longer!
The birthday boy had one terrific birthday! Thanks for letting us
join you, Dylan! This
