Chip
took on project manager duties to remodel the Gentle Winds recreation
building.
This turned our to be a time-consuming job, so we didn't get a lot done
on the house.
He used eight subcontractors to accomplish the job.
Over 4000 feet of tile had to be removed with a chipper hammer.
There was a lot of variety in flooring to be removed, including
carpeting and more tile.
This was a huge
tile job.
We had to bring in materials from Puerto Rico.
All of the floors had to be leveled to ensure a flat surface that would
drain properly.
Travertine tile was installed throughout the building.
The building had to be scraped, pressure washed, patched and
painted.
There was a lot
of electrical work to be done. A partition wall
was torn down and a new one was reconstructed
The rotted wood
doors (there were 8 double wide doors) were replaced with mahoghany
doors.
Kitchen cabinets and a countertop were
installed.
The mahogany bar top was refinished.
Hot running water is now available.
Chip designed a kitchen enclosure that would enable it to be closed off
when it wasn't being used.
New lights
and fans were
installed.
The interior was painted as
well.
The building and patios look really great now.
