We decided to visit friends and family for our annual summer vacation.
Our first stop was Colorado Springs, Colorado, to visit Paul and
Suzanne.
Let's just say
that there was work to be done when we arrived in Colorado.
The
mother of all rainstorms washed out the fill at Paul and Suzanne's new
house which
was still under construction.
So Clada borrowed a pair of Paul's
shoes and Suzanne's tee shirt and we went to work,
installing a city-mandated silt fence, which had
to be installed ASAP.
Did I mention that they have a 4-acre +
lot???
There was over 500 feet of silt fence installed.
Two silt fences had to be installed as well as two coffer dams.
We learned that tractors work great on flat surfaces, but you have to
be very, very careful on soft soil on a hillside. Chip only got
the
tractor stuck once, when we were working on the silt fence.
Fortunately, we only had a "situation" that didn't become an "incident".
There were other important jobs to be done as
well.
Clada scarfed up some leftover stone for mosaic work.
Paul helped the mason level the floor for the granite and marble
flooring.
Clada and Suzanne took a day off and toured the Botanical
Gardens for landscaping ideas. Plants are expensive in Colorado!
Chip
loved the tractor work. He and Paul worked on positioning the
rock, which will be used to prop up a sign.
It looks like all we did
was work when we were in Colorado, but NOT TRUE. We had great
meals and a fun get together
with old friends, but we didn't take any pictures! Oh well.
We will do better next time.
Paul and Suzanne, it was great to see you and we look forward to
seeing the house and vineyard completed! This
