Chip, Clada and Mom took another Caribbean
cruise! Mom treated us to a vacation from
housebuilding, which we really appreciated after six months of
plastering, roof coating, and painting. Mom
was able to take her scooter on the trip.
This is
the Celebrity Summit that we cruised on.
We had a formal dining night after our first stop, St Thomas,
where Mom stayed on the ship while Chip and I went to Home Depot.
Mom had been to St Thomas twice previously so we opted not to tour, but
we enjoyed the Home Depot stop to pick up black grout.
Our second stop was in St Croix so Mom could see our progress on
the
house. Mom used her new Ipad at the
apartment.
The weather was lousy--windy and threatening to rain.
Our neighbor picked us up and
we used her car
since it would hold the scooter.
We had lunch with friends at
Gentle Winds.
Mom challenged another owner to a race...she is still Speedy
Gonzales!
Our third stop was St Kitts.
There was a "cruise
ship village" right off the pier, where we waited for transport for our
tour.
We rode a narrow guage railroad
around the island which was perfect for rainy day since we were in A/C
and
had free drinks!
Mom got around on her scooter
fabulously. We had a hard time keeing up!
We stayed on the ship in
Antigua because we had been there before.
Our last stop was St Lucia. We found it to be a beautiful and
friendly island.
We took a private tour through Cosul tours, which had
received rave reviews on www.tripadvisor.com--the tour was the best
ever!
We stopped at
many scenic overlooks, one of which had free
island delicacies, which we enjoyed.
Mom's portable scooter came
in handy at several of the stops.
We coordinated the tour ahead of time, so instead of a van, we had our
own chariot so Mom's scooter could be transported.
"Small Boy" was our driver and he made the trip a lot of fun.
Cosul really knows how to organize a tour.
These are the famous St Lucia mountains in the background.
St Lucia has an active volcano...the sulfur smell was really strong.
There was a nifty waterfall that you could wade into
and take a quick shower.
The flora at the waterfall was really beautiful.
The hummingbird was about 5
inches long...it was the biggest one I'd ever seen.
St Lucia had fabulous roads and beautiful
scenic overlooks.
We even saw an eclipse while
we were there.
The trip ended too soon! Mom (AKA Speedy Gonzales) ran into Chip
just once, leaving treadmarks on his loafers.
