Step 9 - Constructing the Walls to the
Lower Level
WALL FORMS ARE CONSTRUCTED FOR THE CISTERNS AND PATIO COLUMNS
...and then we wait a
week for the scheduled concrete pour....
but while we're waiting, the team dug the footings for a retaining wall
and started working on the
back support wall
Next, the forms are removed, a several day job, and the apartment and
workshop walls are constructed
Our first window forms are constructed by and installed
And then, plumbing, electrical, and air conditioning lines are installed
After the conduit is installed, the outside forms go up
We had some trouble getting insulation into
the PVC pipes for the copper A/C lines, but we did it, with help
from the team!
Plumbing
problems caused a one-week delay, but we finally got the outside forms
up.
Then Joseph decided he wanted to avoid a cold joint near the windows,
so he added another 10 inches to the forms so this pour was for
8'10".
This was our toughest construction so far...with lots of scaffolding
and bracing
The pour was the best we've
had--with timely concrete, no clogs, and we started two hours earlier
than scheduled.
Gus is ready to move the concrete
hose
Sylvan handles the vibrator
The team works hard to pull this one off!
Winston has joined the team
and....
Joseph is all smiles after the pour!
We will leave the forms up for another week...but we removed the braces
When the crew has some time, they strip
forms...the outside plyforms have been removed, and we can see outside
the windows...
