BEFORE WE CAN CONTINUE CONSTRUCTION, WE HAVE TO BACKFILL THE UPPER
LEVEL. We
had over 100 yards of caleichi (a type of powdered rock) delivered for
the fill.
It was a
smooth
operation. Stanley, our backhoe operator, would deposit the fill
and sweep it with his bucket.
Then we
would quickly remove any big rocks, spread it out with a shovel and
compact it. We had two jumping jacks going! This stuff packs like concrete--you
need a pick axe or back hoe to dig it out once it is compacted.
Everyone helps out...even Leroy, a
master carpenter, has a shovel in his hands.
Stanley dug the garage
foundation and footing in his spare time.
Clada was proud of this efficient
operation. It was completed in less than two days. This website is for the personal
