                                   Building Our House in the Caribbean

                                                           Step 16 - Temporary Power...It's Harder Than You Think

                     WE APPLIED FOR TEMPORARY POWER AND RECEIVED IT FOUR MONTHS LATER....
              In order to apply for temporary power, the cistern floors have to be poured...and gray water cisterns don't count;
              consequently, we started construction in the middle of May and worked off of generator power for six months

                         Box Installed2
First, our electrician, Glenmore had to install a box--this was done quickly!

Then we waited, and waited, and waited....because the island was out of electrical wire for several months...
                   of course, there was no point in installing a telephone pole since there was no wire.  Then wire arrived...

  And a pole was installed...progress!      Telephone Pole2

                                  Then the island was out of transformers....so six weeks later...we got the wire attached,
                              a
used transformer installed, and a meter positioned in the box--woo hoo!  We have power!
